Telanganas Nizamabad Reports 5500 Fever Cases and 275 Dengue Cases This Year

NIZAMABAD: Despite ongoing government-led awareness campaigns aimed at preventing seasonal diseases, including viral fevers and dengue, Nizamabad district continues to see a rise in fever cases, attributed largely to inadequate sanitation.
The District Malaria Department, along with local bodies, educational institutions, and various government departments such as Medical and Health, Women and Child Welfare, has been actively promoting initiatives like the Swachadanam-Parishubratha programme and the Friday Dry Day concept. However, these efforts have not yet curbed the increasing number of fever cases.
From January to August 15, the Medical and Health team has visited 422,848 households, screened 10.48 lakh people, and identified 5,542 cases of fever. Additionally, there have been 275 reported dengue cases, with 145 occurring in August alone. The highest concentration of dengue cases has been reported in Primary Health Centres (PHCs) across various areas of the district.
