The High Court ordered that POP idols should not be immersed in Hussainsagar. GHMC should be immersed in water wells. The High Court had previously issued guidelines to the Central PCB on the ban of POP idols. A petition was filed in the High Court challenging the guidelines. The High Court heard the petition filed by the idol manufacturers. The High Court said that the government has not given any reason to ban POP idols. It also rejected the government's request to issue orders to reduce the height of the idols.

అయితే, గతేడాది దీనికి సంబంధించి హైకోర్టు, సుప్రీంకోర్టు పలు ఉత్తర్వులు జారీ చేశాయి. గతేడాది కేంద్ర కాలుష్య నియంత్రణ మండలి పీవోపీ విగ్రహాలను నిషేధించాలని మార్గదర్శకాలను జారీ చేసింది. ఆ మార్గదర్శకాలను సవాల్ చేస్తూ వినాయక విగ్రహాల తయారీదారులు హైకోర్టును ఆశ్రయించారు. కరోనాకు ముందు విగ్రహాలను తయారు చేశామని, కనీసం వాటినైనా అమ్ముకునేందుకు అనుమతి ఇవ్వాలని కోర్టును అభ్యర్థించారు. దీనిపై సుదీర్ఘంగా విచారించిన కోర్టు.. ఇందులో తాము ఎలాంటి ఉత్తర్వులు ఇవ్వలేమని స్పష్టం చేసింది. పీసీబీ కేవలం మార్గదర్శకాలను మాత్రమే జారీ చేసిందని, ప్రభుత్వం పీవోపీ విగ్రహాలపై ప్రభుత్వం నిషేధం విధిస్తూ ఉత్తర్వులు జారీ చేయలేనందున తాము జోక్యం చేసుకోలేమని చెప్పింది. వివాదమంతా విగ్రహాల తయారీపై కాదని, కేవలం నిమజ్జనానికి సంబంధించిన ఈ విషయంలో మాత్రమే వస్తుందని హైకోర్టు పేర్కొంది. హైదరాబాద్లో నదులు, చెరువులు ఎక్కువగా లేనందున సమస్య తలెత్తుతుందని కోర్టు అభిప్రాయపడింది.
