Hyderabad's Food Safety Taskforce conducted inspections at Lulu Hypermarket in the Kukatpally area on Thursday.
Infested items such as Atta Bread Mix (10 kg) and loose Baguette Bread Mix (15 kg) were discovered in the bakery unit and subsequently discarded.
Expired and past Use-by-date food items, including Sesame Seeds (20 kg), Toned Milk (20 L), packets of biscuits, Glaze (7.5 kg), Gems (5 kg), and Fruit Juice (2 packets), were discovered and removed. The updated FSSAI license copy was not displayed at the premises' entrance, and houseflies were observed near the meat storage area.
Workers in the food section were observed wearing hair caps, gloves, masks, and uniforms. Pest control records and medical fitness certificates of food handlers were also readily available.
Food safety officials indicated that a notice would be issued, and subsequent actions will be taken accordingly.

Inspections were also conducted at the JNTU college canteen in Kukatpally, where it was found that the business operator had displayed an improper FSSAI license.
The food handlers were observed without headgear, gloves, and aprons. Semi-prepared food items and cut vegetables were improperly covered and labeled. The kitchen premises were found in unhygienic conditions, with food waste discarded directly on the floor and lacking insect-proof screens.
Medical fitness certificates and pest control records were unavailable. Additionally, 3.5 kg of expired rice flour was discovered and promptly discarded.
This follows a series of inspections conducted at various food establishments, ranging from commercial restaurants to PGs, hostels, and canteens across the state.
