Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has pledged that the state government will ensure essential civic amenities such as road connectivity, drinking water, and electricity in all tribal hamlets ('thandas') across Telangana.
During a session of question hour, the CM emphasized the importance of developing educational and infrastructural facilities to foster inclusive growth.
"Basic civic amenities in thandas are critical for the overall development of the state. We will soon outline a comprehensive plan to ensure their holistic development," he informed the House.
The government aims to lay bituminous (BT) roads connecting these hamlets to mandal headquarters and enhance civic infrastructure, Revanth Reddy stated. He criticized the previous BRS government for neglecting these areas despite upgrading them to gram panchayats.
Addressing road connectivity, he announced plans for constructing 'double roads' from mandals to district headquarters and four-lane roads from district headquarters to Hyderabad city.
Panchayat Raj Minister Danasari Anasuya, also known as Seethakka, highlighted ongoing efforts to improve facilities in thandas and gram panchayats. She mentioned that 1,851 thandas have been converted into gram panchayats, with the government providing state matching grants alongside central grants for development initiatives.
"All panchayats now have essential amenities such as a tractor, nursery, village grove, segregation shed, crematorium, and sports ground," she added.
Congress MLA J Ramchander Naik raised concerns about these upgraded thandas not being recognized as revenue panchayats, leading to a denial of basic amenities. In response, CM Revanth Reddy reiterated the government's commitment to preparing a comprehensive plan to address these issues and promote overall state development.
