Significant Warehouse Fire Erupts in Howrah, West Bengal

On November 10th, a significant fire erupted at a warehouse located on Foreshore Road in Howrah district, West Bengal, causing panic in the surrounding area. The warehouse, stocked with plastic items, quickly escalated into a major blaze.

Efforts to bring the fire under control were ongoing, with 12 fire tenders at the scene. Although no casualties have been reported, the estimated value of the goods within the warehouse, totaling around one crore rupees, was feared to be completely destroyed.

The proximity of a fuel pump near the warehouse added to the challenges faced by firefighters. The potential threat prompted a cautious approach to prevent the fire from reaching the fuel pump, emphasizing the need for complete control before relief could be assured.

The Minister of State for Fire Services, Sujit Basu, visited the site, and preliminary assessments suggested a possible short-circuit as the cause. Officials indicated that the exact reason could only be determined after a forensic examination. Fortunately, the fire occurred when the warehouse was unoccupied, preventing any casualties.
