Kolkata: The horrific incident came to light in Howrah district, which is 40 kilometers west of Kolkata. Garbage pickers noticed some boxes floating in the drain near Moodalagi bus stand. When I opened what was in it, I saw baby embryos inside. This was immediately informed to the police. The police and district civil health department officials who reached the spot immediately seized 18 fetuses in 5 boxes. They were taken to the hospital for post-mortem. Further investigation is ongoing. Locals said that there are around 30 hospitals and nursing homes within 2 kilometers of the dumping ground where the embryos were found. “This is a serious matter. Police have started an investigation. It remains to be seen whether a medical racket is running in any hospital or nursing home,” said Howrah District Chief Medical Officer Nitaichandra Mondol. Officials said that a committee is also being formed to investigate the incident. All fetuses were found to be less than 5 months old. Kolkata: కోల్కతాకు పశ్చిమాన 40 కిలోమీటర్ల దూరంలో ఉన్న హౌరా జిల్లా(Howrah district)లో దారుణ ఘటన వెలుగుచూసింది. మూడలగి బస్టాండ్(Moodalagi bus stand) సమీపంలోని డ్రెయిన్లో ఏవో బాక్సులు తేలడాన్ని గమనించారు చెత్త ఏరుకునే వ్యక్తులు. అందులో ఏముందని ఓపెన్ చేయగా లోపల పసికందు పిండాలు కనిపించాయి. దీంతో వెంటనే పోలీసులకు సమాచారం అందించారు. వెంటనే అక్కడికి చేరకున్న పోలీసులు, జిల్లా పౌర ఆరోగ్య శాఖ అధికారులు మొత్తం 5 బాక్సుల్లోని 18 పిండాలను స్వాధీనం చేసుకున్నారు. వాటిని పోస్ట్మార్టం నిమిత్తం ఆస్పత్రికి తరలించారు. తదుపరి దర్యాప్తు కొనసాగిస్తున్నారు. పిండాలు కనిపించిన డంపింగ్ గ్రౌండ్కు 2 కిలోమీటర్ల పరిధిలో దాదాపు 30 ఆసుపత్రులు, నర్సింగ్హోమ్లు ఉన్నాయని స్థానికులు తెలిపారు. “ఇది తీవ్రమైన విషయం. పోలీసులు విచారణ ప్రారంభించారు. ఏదైనా ఆసుపత్రిలో లేదా నర్సింగ్హోమ్లో మెడికల్ రాకెట్ నడుస్తోందా అనేది తేలాల్సి ఉంది” అని హౌరా జిల్లా చీఫ్ మెడికల్ ఆఫీసర్ నితైచంద్ర మొండోల్ పేర్కొన్నారు. ఈ ఘటనపై విచారణ జరిపేందుకు ఒక కమిటీని కూడా ఏర్పాలు చేస్తున్నట్లు అధికారులు తెలిపారు. అన్ని పిండాల వయస్సు 5 నెలల లోపే ఉంటుందని తేలింది. లింగ నిర్ధారణ అనంతరం.. ఆడ శిశుల హత్యలుగా పోలీసులు అనుమానం వ్యక్తం చేస్తున్నారు. లోతైన దర్యాప్తు జరిపి నిందితులపై చర్యలు తీసుకుంటామని పోలీసులు చెబుతున్నారు.
