Pahalgam Terrorist Attack: Seven Strict Actions India Takes Against Pakistan

India Takes Strong Actions Against Pakistan Following Pahalgam Terror Attack

India has responded swiftly and decisively following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, in which 26 innocent tourists lost their lives. Alleging Pakistan’s involvement in the attack, India has initiated a series of stringent actions against Pakistan. A total of seven major steps have been taken by the Indian government, with five actions announced on Wednesday and two more on Thursday, reflecting India's strong stance in the wake of the attack.

Seven Strong Measures India Took Against Pakistan:

  1. Cancellation of Indus Waters Treaty: India has immediately revoked the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty, stating that this decision will remain in effect until Pakistan ceases its support for cross-border terrorism.

  2. Closure of Attari Integrated Check Post: The Attari Integrated Check Post was closed on Wednesday, and individuals who had crossed the border before this decision have been given permission to return before May 1.

  3. Suspension of SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme (SVES): India has suspended the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme, under which Pakistani nationals were allowed to travel to India. All previously issued SVES visas for Pakistani nationals have been revoked, and they have been ordered to leave India within 48 hours.

  4. Diplomatic Retaliation: India has declared the defence, military, naval, and air advisers at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi as "persona non grata," giving them one week to leave the country. Furthermore, India has announced that it will withdraw its own defence personnel from the Indian High Commission in Islamabad.

  5. Reduction of Diplomatic Staff: India has confirmed that by May 1, it will reduce the total number of diplomatic staff at the Pakistan High Commission from the current 55 to just 30.

  6. Visa Services Suspended for Pakistani Nationals: The government announced the immediate suspension of visa services for Pakistani nationals. All Pakistani nationals are required to leave India by April 27, except those holding medical visas, who are allowed to stay until April 29.

  7. Reduction of Border Ceremonial Events: The Border Security Force (BSF) has decided to scale down the ceremonial activities at the Attari, Hussainiwala, and Sadki border posts. The traditional "Retreat Ceremony" between Indian and Pakistani guards will also be halted, and gates will be closed during the events. This action reflects India's serious concerns over the current hostile situation at the border.

These actions underline India’s commitment to securing its borders and addressing the terrorist threat emanating from across its western neighbor.
