Minister Nara Lokesh Introduces No Bag Day Every Saturday for School Students

Andhra Pradesh's Minister for Education, Nara Lokesh, has made a significant decision to implement ‘No Bag Day’ every Saturday in schools. This initiative aims to relieve students of the burden of carrying school bags once a week, promoting their well-being and reducing stress.

During a review meeting on school and intermediate education, Nara Lokesh stressed the importance of co-curricular activities in schools. He suggested that Saturdays be designated as ‘No Bag Day’, allowing students to take a break from their school bags and engage in other enriching activities.

Additionally, the minister has instructed officials to fast-track the development of a single integrated application for teachers, which will replace the current multiple apps being used. He also highlighted the need to link the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) ID to accurately verify the number of students in schools, with a clear directive to complete this integration quickly.

On the topic of Government Order (GO) 117, Nara Lokesh emphasized the importance of gathering feedback from teachers and various associations at the field level before making any final decisions to ensure that the solution is acceptable to all stakeholders.

In preparatory meetings led by the Director of School Education, officials presented several suggestions and feedback, which were carefully considered by the minister. Based on these inputs, Nara Lokesh instructed authorities to implement measures to ensure that no student drops out of school. He also called for the preparation of a blueprint for the Andhra Pradesh Model of Education, with plans for public consultation.
