AP Government Increases Liquor Prices by 15%
The Andhra Pradesh coalition government has made a key decision regarding liquor prices. The state's Excise Department has issued orders to raise liquor prices by 15%. However, this price hike will not apply to liquor brands and beers sold at ₹99. The price increase will be applicable to all other types of alcohol, as confirmed by the government. The new prices will come into effect today.
Recently, the government also raised the margin on liquor sales from 14.5% to 20%. Now, with the 15% price hike, alcohol consumers are in for a shock. Additionally, the government plans to impose an Additional Retail Excise Tax (ARET) on domestic foreign liquor and foreign liquor categories.
