On Indrakeeladri, the splendor of the Shravana month festivities has commenced. From the 17th of this month, the grand celebrations of the Shravana masam (month) are taking place on Indrakeeladri. On the 25th of this month, the Varalakshmi Vratam (a special day of worship for the goddess Varalakshmi) is being observed, and Goddess Varalakshmi is gracing her devotees, including Durgamma Varalakshmi, who is famously called the 'Koluvai Vepaku' Varalakshmi Devi. Additionally, starting from September 8th, the collective Varalakshmi pujas are being conducted on Indrakeeladri.

During these collective Varalakshmi pujas, devotees are given the opportunity to participate and perform the puja by contributing Rs. 1500 as a donation and obtaining a ticket. Every day, a significant number of devotees come to participate in these pujas. The temple authorities have made arrangements for the devotees to have a darshan (sight) of Varalakshmi in this manner. The Indrakeeladri Mahamandapam is currently the place for conducting these pujas from 7 am to 9 am daily.

For regular devotees, a separate ticket of Rs. 500 is available, allowing them to participate in the puja from 9 am to the conclusion. These collective Varalakshmi pujas are carried out in a festive manner with great enthusiasm. The temple authorities have arranged for registrations from the third to the fifth day of September for these free collective Varalakshmi pujas.

Without a doubt, these collective Varalakshmi pujas, along with the individual Varalakshmi pujas, are being celebrated with great fervor on Indrakeeladri, and the temple authorities have made arrangements accordingly.
Specialty of Varalakshmi Vratam.. Why is it observed?
Varalakshmi Vratam is a significant Hindu tradition observed on the Friday before the full moon day (Pournami) in the month of Shravanam (usually falls in July or August). It holds a unique significance in Hindu culture. Married women observe this ritual with great devotion.

During the Varalakshmi Vratam, married women perform the puja (ritual worship) of Goddess Varalakshmi, seeking her blessings for prosperity, wealth, and happiness. They adorn the goddess with turmeric and vermilion, offering her a variety of auspicious items, believing that it will bring them abundant blessings and fulfill their desires.

This narrative is present in the Skanda Purana, where Lord Shiva narrates the importance of Varalakshmi Vratam to Goddess Parvati.

By observing this vratam with sincerity and dedication, women hope to gain the blessings of Goddess Varalakshmi, bringing prosperity and joy to their lives along with the well-being and happiness of their families.
