HYDERABAD: In its ongoing campaign against illegal structures in full tank level (FTL) and buffer zones of lakes, the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRAA) conducted an inspection of the Janwada farmhouse on Tuesday. The farmhouse, leased by BRS Working President KT Rama Rao, was measured along with irrigation officials to determine if it infringes on the FTL. The inspection followed recent discussions about the possible demolition of the property, especially after the High Court declined to issue an injunction against such action.
HYDRAA officials also visited Salakam Cheruvu, where the construction of Fatima Owaisi College, associated with Akbaruddin Owaisi, is under scrutiny for allegedly being built within the FTL.
KT Rama Rao stated that he would accept any decision by the officials regarding the demolition of the farmhouse if violations were found. He also urged the authorities to address illegal structures owned by Congress leaders, including one belonging to Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy.
In response to the visit to Fatima Owaisi College, Commissioner AV Ranganath told BJP corporators that demolishing the college during the academic year could adversely affect students. He noted that the illegal structures of the college and another educational institution owned by former minister Ch. Malla Reddy, located near Dulapally, would be addressed later.
Former minister Patnam Mahender Reddy, addressing allegations from KT Rama Rao, claimed that his house near Gandipet Lake was built in accordance with regulations. Reddy, who purchased 14.14 acres of land in 1999—now owned by his son—asserted that he had not received any official notices regarding irregularities. He vowed to rectify any issues if notified by authorities.
