Beggars in Hyderabad are taking to the roadsides, targeting motorists aggressively for money as soon as the signals turn red. In a bid to increase their earnings, these beggars have resorted to various tactics. They wear a smile to encourage offerings; otherwise, they resort to aggressive approaches, invoking fear in the minds of pedestrians who now hesitate to cross intersections. This issue isn't limited to street corners or intersections alone; instead, it has expanded into a city-wide begging enterprise. The mastermind behind this begging mafia is still a mystery.
To crack down on this issue, a special police task force, known as the West Zone Task Force, has been deployed to address the alarming situation. They have succeeded in exposing the organized begging racket. Anil Pawar, the leader of this mafia, has been arrested and brought to justice.
Anil Pawar has been identified as the orchestrator of the begging mafia. The details about his background, origin, and how he organized this begging mafia are currently under investigation. Pawar's journey to Hyderabad from Karnataka has also been traced. He had handpicked beggars and helpless individuals, especially women from different states, and turned them into targets, exploiting their vulnerability. He offered them shelter and in return, they were expected to generate significant revenue through begging. Locations such as KBR Park, Jubilee Hills Check Post, Hitech City Circle, and Khairatabad Signal were often targeted by these individuals. Daily begging routines at these spots were organized to maximize the earnings for the mafia.
The operation was carried out from 8 AM to 11 PM every day. Nearly 200 beggars were associated with Anil Pawar's gang. The police are now taking stringent measures to address the issue and restore order in the city.
