Telangana Government Announces Property Tax Relief for Greater Hyderabad Residents

The Telangana state government has made a crucial decision to provide relief to property tax payers in Greater Hyderabad. In a move to ease the burden, the government has issued an order offering a one-time settlement (OTS) scheme with a 90% waiver on interest for those who clear their pending property tax dues in one go. The order was issued by Municipal Administration Principal Secretary Dana Kishore.

Dana Kishore urged the residents of Greater Hyderabad to take advantage of the OTS scheme and pay their pending property tax on time. The government has been introducing similar schemes in recent years to recover outstanding dues in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits.

For the 2024-25 financial year, taxpayers can clear their entire pending property tax amount by paying only 10% of the accrued interest, as mentioned in the government order.

Last year, nearly one lakh taxpayers utilized the OTS scheme to clear their property tax dues, according to GHMC. This year, the GHMC aims to collect ₹2,000 crore in property tax, expecting a positive response following the government’s approval of OTS.

The Telangana Municipal Administration Department has urged Hyderabad residents to make use of this opportunity and settle their property tax dues before the deadline.
