They will assess the planning, designs, and drawings submitted by the Water Resources Department, offering recommendations for technically and economically feasible solutions or corrective actions.
Experts from the USA and Canada visited the Polavaram irrigation project site in Polavaram on June 30th (Sunday).
The Polavaram Project Authority (PPA) has engaged two experts each from the USA and Canada to review the planning, designs, and drawings submitted by the Water Resources Department of Andhra Pradesh, and to recommend technically and economically feasible solutions or remedial measures.
On their first day of the visit, the experts inspected the upstream and downstream cofferdams. They also reviewed aspects such as executed jet grouting, seepage analysis, and the AFRY proposal on geotechnical matters.
The experts are scheduled to study and inspect the project site on July 1st (Monday). On July 2nd (Tuesday), they will engage in discussions with representatives from various organizations including the Water Resources Department (WRD), Polavaram Project Authority (PPA), Central Water Commission (CWC), Central Soil and Materials Research Station (CSMRS), Water and Power Consultancy Services (India) Limited (WAPCOS), M/s Bauer, M/s Keller, M/s MEIL, AFRY, and FUGRO. The following day, July 3rd (Wednesday), they will continue discussions with expert agencies and departments involved in the Polavaram Irrigation Project (PIP).
Upon the advice of the Central government, the State government has enlisted the support of foreign experts David P. Paul and Gain Franco de Cicco from the USA, as well as Richerd Donnelly and Sean Hinchberger from Canada.
