DS Government Degree College for Women in Ongole has been granted autonomous status

The University Grants Commission has awarded autonomous status to DS Government Degree College for Women in Ongole for a period of 10 years, extending until 2034. This recognition comes in acknowledgment of the college's outstanding performance in recent years, highlighted by its achievement of an NAAC A+ Grade with 3.34 out of 4 points in 2023.
Established in 1984 initially offering just two courses, the college has since expanded its offerings to include seven undergraduate courses: B.Sc (Honours) in Computer Sciences, Mathematics, Chemistry, and Botany; B.Com (Honours) in Computer Applications and General; B.A (Honours) in Political Science; and a postgraduate course, M.Sc in Computer Science. Additionally, the college provides a vocational course in Medical Lab Technician (MLT).
The institution boasts impressive infrastructure, including a lab with 100 computers, modern laboratories for botany, chemistry, physics, and zoology, a Jawahar Knowledge Centre (JKC), an AP Skill Development Centre equipped with 30 laptops, an ultra-modern digital library, spacious grounds, and other facilities.
Dr. Kalyani, the college principal, expressed enthusiasm about the autonomous status, emphasizing that it allows them to design their own syllabus and set higher standards to enhance students' job opportunities in today's competitive world. She highlighted the crucial role of technical and soft skills in shaping students' futures.
