Hyderabad:The Legislative Assembly was embroiled in a heated exchange on Monday between the treasury and opposition benches over the Commission of Inquiry (CoI) investigating alleged irregularities in the power sector and the construction of the Bhadradri and Yadadri power plants during the BRS regime.
The clash intensified when former Energy Minister G. Jagadish Reddy defended the BRS government's performance in the electricity sector, criticizing the current Congress administration for its power supply shortcomings. 
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy sharply rebutted Reddy’s remarks, suggesting that Reddy was already feeling the pressure of a potential inquiry related to tender irregularities, which he described as “fraudulent.” The CM remarked that the mention of an inquiry seemed to unsettle Reddy as if he were already in jail.
In response, Jagadish Reddy retorted that the Chief Minister might be reflecting on his past experiences in Cherlapally jail, a reference to the vote-for-note scam in which Revanth Reddy faced charges. Reddy also questioned why the Supreme Court would criticize the CoI if former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had done nothing wrong, asserting that the court had ruled in Rao’s favor.
He challenged the notion of being a “dummy minister” and refuted claims of amassing Rs 20,000 crore, questioning if current ministers could achieve even Rs 20 lakh crore. Reddy offered to have an inquiry into his assets if the government so wished. Meanwhile, Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar expunged some of Jagadish Reddy’s comments from the record.
