Heatwave: Orange Alert Issued for Five Districts in Telangana

IMD Issues Heatwave Alert for Telangana, Temperatures to Soar Up to 44°C

Hyderabad, March 16: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave alert for Telangana for the next two days. The maximum temperature in at least five districts is expected to rise between 41 to 44 degrees Celsius.

An orange alert has been issued for Adilabad, Jagitial, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, and Rajanna Sircilla districts, where extreme heatwave conditions are expected. The remaining areas in Telangana are under a yellow alert, with temperatures likely to range between 36 to 40 degrees Celsius.

On Sunday, 22 out of 33 districts recorded temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius, with Asifabad being the hottest at 42.4°C. The Telangana Development Planning Society reported that Neradigonda (Adilabad), Mandamarri (Mancherial), and Veernapalle (Rajanna Sircilla) recorded 41.5°C. The weather department predicts dry conditions until March 20, followed by light to moderate rain or thundershowers in some areas on March 21.

For Hyderabad, the IMD forecasts partly cloudy skies for the next 24 hours, with mist or haze in the morning. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 38°C and 23°C, with southeasterly winds at 4-6 kmph.
