Pawan Kalyan mentioned that upon discovering the heavy debt burden of the Panchayat Raj department resulting from misused funds, he instructed officials not to pay him a salary.
PITHAPURAM (KAKINADA): Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan reiterated his commitment to fulfilling 100% of the promises made to the people during elections. He emphasized that his immediate priority is to ensure safe drinking water reaches every village in Andhra Pradesh, aiming to position the state at the forefront of implementing such schemes nationwide.
Beginning his three-day tour of his hometown constituency Pithapuram on Monday, Pawan Kalyan distributed social security pensions under the NTR Bharosa scheme at Gollaprolu.
Addressing the gathering, Pawan Kalyan discussed the financial challenges faced by the Panchayat Raj department due to mismanagement of funds. He disclosed that he had declined to accept his salary upon learning about the department's debt burden. He also refused government-provided furniture for his office, opting to purchase it himself. Expressing dismay at the revelations made during detailed meetings on Panchayat Raj and Rural Development, he criticized inflated quotations for minor repairs and highlighted lapses from the previous administration. He emphasized his goal to systematically revitalize the department.
Asserting that his motivation in entering politics was solely to serve the people without personal gain, Pawan Kalyan pledged zero tolerance for corruption from his end. He advocated for environmental protection through audits of industrial pollution and vowed to support non-polluting industries to stimulate economic growth.
Earlier, Pawan Kalyan presented a social security pension cheque to Medisetty Nagamani, a differently abled beneficiary.
Expressing heartfelt gratitude to the people of Pithapuram for their overwhelming support in electing him, Pawan Kalyan emphasized his lifelong commitment to their comprehensive development.
"When I won the election, I had the option to organize a grand victory rally. Instead, I chose to return to Pithapuram with something tangible for the constituency - today, we disbursed enhanced pensions. For me, it's not about meetings or rallies; what matters most is the happiness and welfare of the people of Pithapuram," he stated. Pawan Kalyan pledged to connect with the community by ensuring access to safe drinking water, creating job opportunities for youth, and clearing silt from canals.
The Jana Sena leader criticized the previous YSRC government for squandering ₹600 crore of taxpayers' money on constructing palatial buildings at Rushikonda, which now stand vacant. "This amount could have been utilized for the overall development of the entire district," he lamented.
Pawan Kalyan highlighted the successful distribution of social security pensions by secretariat staff, illustrating that this task can be accomplished without the involvement of village or ward volunteers. Expressing concern over rampant irregularities in the Civil Supplies Department in Kakinada, he emphasized the need for holding the responsible parties accountable for their actions.
