The BRS party in Telangana is facing severe setbacks, having recently lost the 2023 MLA elections and failing to secure any seats in the recent MP elections. Adding to their troubles, the party is now witnessing an exodus of its MLAs. Already, 7 MLAs have departed, and the party is bracing for the departure of 6 more MPs starting today.
Reports indicate that 6 BRS MLAs from the Greater Hyderabad region are preparing to leave the party to join the Congress.
The first MLA to make this move is Prakash Goud of Rajendranagar, who is scheduled to officially join Congress today in the presence of CM Revanth Reddy. This political switch has been finalized, and Prakash is expected to take oath with Congress shortly.
Compounding BRS's woes, 5 more MLAs are anticipated to join the Congress tomorrow, July 13th. They include Bandaru Lakshma Reddy from Uppal, Sudheer Reddy from LB Nagar, Arikepudi Gandhi from Serilingampally, Madhavaram Krishna Rao from Kukatpally, and Vivekananda Goud from Qutbullapur.
Despite a strong performance in the Greater Hyderabad region during the assembly elections, BRS is struggling to maintain its momentum as a significant number of its MLAs defect to the Congress. With these defections, BRS’s representation in the assembly could dwindle to 25-26 members.
