A Swiggy delivery boy was allegedly assaulted by an apartment owner in Visakhapatnam for addressing him as "bro," leading to protests by delivery workers.
According to reports from the protesters, the incident occurred at Oxygen Towers B Block in Seethammadhara, where Prasad, a resident, had ordered food through Swiggy. Anil, the delivery boy, arrived at Prasad's flat with the food parcel. After ringing the doorbell, a woman answered and, not understanding Anil’s words, informed Prasad.
When Prasad came outside to clarify, Anil reportedly said, "Your food parcel has arrived, bro." Angered by this, Prasad allegedly questioned, "How dare you call me bro instead of sir?" and then attacked Anil. Prasad, along with security staff, allegedly beat Anil, stripped him down to his underwear, and forced him to stand outside the gate. They also allegedly made him write an apology letter.
Rumors circulated that Anil, distressed by the humiliation, attempted suicide. Following this, delivery workers gathered in protest at Oxygen Towers, demanding action against those responsible for assaulting and humiliating Anil.
Dwarka ACP Annepu Narasimhamurthy arrived at the scene and spoke with Anil over the phone, confirming that he was safe. The ACP assured that a case would be registered if the victim filed a complaint, which helped calm the protesters.
