Siddharth Desai Delivers Record-Breaking Performance in Ranji Trophy

In the ongoing Ranji Trophy match against Uttarakhand, Gujarat’s spinner Siddharth Desai achieved an incredible feat by taking 9 wickets in a single innings. Desai bowled 15 overs, giving away just 36 runs, including 5 maiden overs. Remarkably, all the first 9 wickets of Uttarakhand's innings were taken by Desai. However, his chance of claiming all 10 wickets was stopped when Vishal Jaiswal took the final wicket.

This performance broke the previous record set by Vinubhai Dhruv of Gujarat, who had taken 8 wickets for 31 runs. Desai now holds the record for the most wickets taken in an innings by a Gujarat bowler in Ranji Trophy history.

Desai’s brilliant bowling led to the collapse of Uttarakhand's batting, which was dismissed for just 111 runs in 30 overs. Four of their players were out without scoring, with Shashwat Dangwal’s 35 being the highest score.

In response, Gujarat started their first innings strong. At the end of the first day, they had scored 190 runs for the loss of 4 wickets, taking a 79-run lead. Urvil Patel scored 53 before being dismissed, while Manan Hingrajia was unbeaten on 66, with Jaimit Patel on 29 at stumps.
