MP Salaries and Allowances Increased – New Government Notification Released
The central government has announced a salary hike for Members of Parliament (MPs), along with revised allowances and pensions. The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs issued a Gazette Notification on Monday, confirming that the new salary structure will be effective from April 1, 2023.
Revised Salary & Allowances for MPs:

MP Salary: Increased from ₹1,00,000 to ₹1,24,000 per month.

Daily Allowance: Raised from ₹2,000 to ₹2,500.

Ex-MPs Pension: Increased from ₹25,000 to ₹31,000 per month.

Additional Pension: For every additional year after 5 years of service, the pension rises from ₹2,000 to ₹2,500.
This salary revision comes during the ongoing Parliament Budget Session. The last revision was in April 2018, when MPs' salaries were adjusted considering inflation and cost of living.
Additional Perks & Benefits for MPs:

MPs receive ₹70,000 per month as a constituency allowance for office expenses and voter interactions.

₹60,000 per month for office maintenance.

Daily session allowance of ₹2,000, which is now increased.

MPs are entitled to free domestic air travel (34 trips per year) for themselves and their family members.

First-class rail travel is unlimited, and they can claim mileage allowance for road travel.

Free electricity (50,000 units per year) and 4,000 kiloliters of water.

Government housing in Delhi for the entire five-year tenure, including hostels, apartments, or bungalows based on seniority.

Those who opt-out of official housing receive monthly rent allowances.
