HYDERABAD: The state government has allocated 16,000 two-bedroom (2BHK) houses for families displaced by the Musi Riverfront Development Project. An official order for the allocation is expected to be issued shortly.
Surveys conducted by various government departments have identified around 10,200 encroachments along the banks and buffer zone of the Musi River.
Starting Wednesday, collectors from Hyderabad, Rangareddy, and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts will deploy teams to visit each identified structure and inform occupants about the project and the necessity of relocation.
Landowners in the river's buffer zone will receive compensation under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (RFCTLARR) Act. This includes structural compensation based on the value of the land, if they possess pattas, along with a 2BHK house. Those who have encroached on the riverbed and constructed homes will only receive a 2BHK house, as they are not eligible for additional compensation.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has assured that all affected individuals will be rehabilitated in accordance with the law and that no injustice will be done.
Recently, Ponnam Prabhakar, the in-charge minister for Hyderabad, inspected 2BHK colonies at Chanchalguda and Vanasthalipuram, reaffirming the government's commitment to ensuring justice for families affected by the project. He emphasized that those displaced would be provided with 2BHK houses.
