Mumbai, April 20 – Rohit Sharma roared back to form with a brilliant 76* as Mumbai Indians crushed Chennai Super Kings by nine wickets at the Wankhede Stadium in their second clash of IPL 2025.
Chasing 177, Rohit and Suryakumar Yadav (68* off 30 balls) stitched together a match-winning 114-run stand, helping MI reach the target in just 15.4 overs. This was MI’s fourth win of the season, lifting them to sixth on the points table, while CSK languished at the bottom with only four points from eight games.
Earlier, CSK posted 176/5 thanks to fifties from Shivam Dube (50) and Ravindra Jadeja (53*), along with an explosive debut cameo from 17-year-old Ayush Mhatre (32 off 15). Despite a late flourish, CSK’s total proved insufficient as Mumbai’s batting firepower dominated.
Jasprit Bumrah was MI's star with the ball, taking 2/25, including the wickets of Dube and MS Dhoni.
