Mohammed Shami Breaks World Record in Champions Trophy Match vs Bangladesh

In the Champions Trophy match between India and Bangladesh at the Dubai International Stadium, several records were broken. India secured a commanding six-wicket victory, making an impressive start to the tournament.

Indian star pacer Mohammed Shami delivered an outstanding five-wicket haul, setting a new all-time record in One Day Internationals (ODIs). He became the fastest bowler to claim 200 ODI wickets in terms of balls bowled, surpassing Australian superstar Mitchell Starc.

Although Shami took two more matches than Starc to reach the milestone, he did it with fewer deliveries. Shami reached 200 wickets in 5,126 balls across 104 matches, while Starc took 5,240 balls in 102 games. Shami now holds the record for the fewest balls taken to achieve 200 ODI wickets. He also broke the record held by former Indian pacer Ajit Agarkar, who took 133 matches to reach 200 wickets, while Shami did it in just 104 games.
