Pan-India" Label Fails to Propel Game Changer to Success at the Box Office
The highly anticipated "pan-India" film Game Changer, which had its launch event in Lucknow, marks the Telugu debut of actor Kiara Ali Advani and director Shankar. Despite the excitement, the film has not made the desired impact at the box office. Released in five languages with a hefty budget of Rs 400 crore, Game Changer has only managed to earn Rs 176 crore, 11 days post-release.
Meanwhile, Daaku Maharaj is closely trailing Venkatesh's film, accumulating Rs 111.75 crore in earnings.
Bala, a prominent industry figure, shared his thoughts on the "pan-India" tag, stating, “When a South Indian film is dubbed in Hindi or promoted in Mumbai or Delhi, it is immediately labeled pan-India. But this tag doesn’t guarantee success. Even Kanguva struggled. Audiences are more likely to watch a regional film if its content is strong. Take Kantara, for instance – it became a huge hit, even though it was initially released in a regional language and later dubbed in Hindi.”
In a similar vein, the Malayalam film Marco performed well in Hindi-speaking states despite initially being released with only 34 shows. After the overwhelming audience response in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bihar, the makers increased the number of shows to 3,000, further boosting its success.
