HYDERABAD: The state government is considering several prominent figures for key positions at the Young India Skill University, including film producers Daggubati Suresh and Dil Raju, as well as Suchitra Ella of Bharat Biotech. The process for appointing the university's board of governance is moving forward swiftly.
Recently, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced the appointment of Anand Mahindra, Chairman of the Mahindra & Mahindra Group, as the university's chairman. Before finalizing Mahindra’s appointment, the government had considered seven other candidates for the chairperson role. These included industrialist Srini Raju, HCL’s Roshni Nadar, former Government of India Secretary R. Subramanian, former diplomat Syed Akbaruddin, former RBI Governor Duvvuri Subba Rao, and Infosys’s Kris Gopalakrishnan.
The search for a vice-chancellor is also underway, with former Principal Economic Adviser to the Union Government VLCSS Subba Rao, Prof. Neharika Vohra of IIM-Ahmedabad, and Tata Strive’s Anita Rajan among those being considered.
For the university's board of governance, the names under consideration include Cyient’s BVR Mohan Reddy, Dr. Reddy’s Satish Reddy, film producers Dil Raju and Daggubati Suresh Babu, as well as other notable individuals such as Suresh Chukkapalli (Phoenix Group), Rajiv Chilaka (Green Gold Animation), Ramesh Kaza (State Street), Gurunath Reddy (Continental Hospitals), Sangeetha Reddy (Apollo Hospitals), Mahima Datla (Biological E), and Suchitra Ella (Bharat Biotech).
Additional candidates for board membership include Mamata Madireddy (HSBC), Meera Shenoy (Youth4Jobs), Vijay Mohanraj (Sameera Travels & Tours), Sandeep Agarwal (Ratnadeep), Anil Kumar Chalamalasetty (Greenko), Prem Watsa (Fairfax), Farhan or Azam (Hardware Prototyping), Shantanu Paul (Talent Sprint), Anil Gupta (IIMA), Rajanna V (TCS), Randhir Singh (Vishwakarma University), Vijayanand S (Amara Raja), Vaghesh Dixit (ALPLA), Praveen Kumar (former Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development), Sanjiv Rangrass (former ITC member), S. Siva Kumar (ITC), Balram Singh Yadav (Godrej Agrovet), Guruprasad Srinivasan (Quess Corp), and Ravi Narra (DICCI).
According to the Skill University Act, the governing body will include at least 15 members, encompassing both the chairperson and the vice-chancellor.
