Vijayawada: Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha has called upon leaders and cadres of all political parties to refrain from taking the law into their own hands. She issued a stern warning that stringent actions will be taken against anyone who disturbs public order, regardless of their political affiliation.
Speaking at a press conference held at the State Secretariat in Velagapudi on Thursday, she pointed out that certain disruptive elements, alluding to YSRC leaders and cadres, are attempting to disrupt law and order in the state. She emphasized that such actions will be met with severe legal consequences. Anitha criticized YSRC leaders for inflaming tensions based on caste and religion, which she claimed tarnishes the state's image and leads to law and order issues.
She asserted, "A criminal is a criminal, irrespective of their caste, religion, or political affiliation," stressing that law enforcement will be impartial and rigorous in dealing with offenders.
Anitha attributed recent incidents of violence to what she described as the weakening of the police department under the previous YSRC regime. She also mentioned that cases of rape involving minor girls and other crimes against women are under thorough investigation to identify underlying causes. The Home Minister announced plans for a special campaign to raise awareness about women's safety and prevent such incidents in the future.
