Telangana to Pursue Ordinance for SC Sub Categorisation Order

HYDERABAD: In response to the Supreme Court’s verdict on the categorisation of Scheduled Castes (SCs), the Telangana government has decided to implement the order through an ordinance.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expressed his support for the Supreme Court’s decision and announced on Thursday in the Legislative Assembly that Telangana will be the first state to enact this change.
“If necessary, we will issue an ordinance to implement the SC categorisation into A, B, C, and D,” Revanth said, noting that this categorisation will be applied to the ongoing recruitment process.
He highlighted the efforts of the Congress government, which presented strong arguments in the Supreme Court through expert legal counsel. Following the formation of the Congress government, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha, and others met with legal experts in Delhi to advocate effectively on behalf of the state.
Revanth confirmed that the Supreme Court's ruling supported sub-categorisation and invited Leader of the Opposition K. Chandrasekhar Rao to share his views on the matter in the Assembly.
