Telangana High Court Grants Anticipatory Bail to Bachupally MRO in Encroachment Case
HYDERABAD: Justice K. Sujana of the Telangana High Court granted anticipatory bail to the Bachupally Mandal Revenue Officer (MRO) on Thursday. The MRO, appointed in August 2023, faced allegations related to unauthorized construction near Errakunta pond in Pragathi Nagar, as detailed in Crime No. 41 of 2024 by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Cyberabad.
The complaint, lodged by the HYDRAA Commissioner, accuses several officials of facilitating illegal structures within the pond’s buffer zone. The MRO, named as Accused No. 2, claimed false implications, arguing that he assumed office after all building permits were issued and had already taken steps to address illegal constructions by January 2024.
Prosecutors alleged that the building permissions were unlawful, citing reports from the Irrigation Department and land records officials. The MRO’s defense highlighted that initial approvals predated his tenure and were granted by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority.
