Telangana: Amgen Unveils New Technology Hub in Hitec City
Hyderabad: Amgen, the US-based biopharmaceutical giant, has announced the establishment of a new technology and innovation site in Hyderabad. The facility will span six floors in Hitec City, accommodating up to 3,000 employees and is set to commence operations in the fourth quarter of 2024.
This new site aims to enhance Amgen’s global digital capabilities and support the advancement of its medicine pipeline. Dr. David M. Reese, Amgen’s Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, highlighted the company's long-standing leadership in biotechnology and its commitment to serving patients through this new development in India.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu met with Dr. Reese and Som Chattopadhyay at Amgen’s R&D site in San Francisco on Friday. Additionally, Revanth held discussions with Adobe Systems CEO Shantanu Narayen in Palo Alto, California.
In a related development, Aurum Equity Partners announced a phased investment of $400 million to build an AI-powered, green data center in Hyderabad following a meeting with the Chief Minister and Sridhar Babu.
Significant Milestone for Hyderabad
Amgen India plans to use this new site to develop cutting-edge technology solutions and digital capabilities, strengthening areas such as AI, data science, and life sciences. Chattopadhyay will serve as the national executive for India.
Chief Minister Reddy hailed Amgen’s decision as a "great breakthrough" and a proud moment for Hyderabad, positioning the city as a leading hub for innovation and technology. Sridhar Babu expressed enthusiasm for Amgen’s choice, viewing it as a strong endorsement of Telangana’s life sciences ecosystem.
Telangana’s Vision for the Future
During an AI business roundtable at the Indian Consulate General in Palo Alto, the Chief Minister promoted Telangana as "The Future State," emphasizing the state’s transformative projects like the AI city and the Net Zero Future City. Reddy invited global tech leaders to explore opportunities in Telangana, receiving a positive response from many.
Meeting with Adobe’s CEO
The Chief Minister also had a productive meeting with Shantanu Narayen, CEO of Adobe Systems, in Palo Alto. The Chief Minister’s office highlighted this meeting as both inspirational and strategic, with Narayen expressing support for Telangana’s future projects, including Hyderabad 4.0 and the Young India Skill University.
