MLC Elections: Polling for Teacher and Graduate MLC Elections in AP and Telangana on February 27, Counting on March 3

In Andhra Pradesh, polling for the Teacher and Graduate MLC elections will take place on February 27. A total of nearly 7 lakh voters will cast their votes for the three available seats. The counting of votes will take place on March 3.

In the North Andhra Teachers’ seat, 10 candidates are competing. The primary contest is between teachers’ unions. A total of 22,493 teachers are eligible to vote in this region. The candidates are:

  • Koredla Vijayagouri (PDF)
  • Pakalapati Raghavarma (APTF)
  • Gade Srinivasulunayudu (PRTU)

For the United Upper Godavari Graduate seat, 34 candidates are contesting, with the main competition between TDP and PDF.

  • Parabathula Rajasekhar (TDP)
  • DV Raghavulu (PDF)

This seat has 3,14,984 graduate voters.

For the Krishna-Guntur Graduate seat, 30 candidates are in the fray, with TDP and PDF being the main contenders.

  • KS Lakshman Rao (PDF)

This seat has 3,46,529 graduate voters.

In Telangana: In Telangana, polling will also take place on February 27 for two Teacher MLC and one Graduate MLC seats. Over 4 lakh voters from these three seats will exercise their voting rights, and the counting will happen on March 3.

For the Karimnagar Graduate seat, the main competition is between Congress and BJP.

  • Anji Reddy (BJP)

A total of 56 candidates are contesting in this seat. The main contest is between Congress and BJP, though independents are also giving a strong challenge. In this seat, 3,55,159 graduate voters will vote.

For the Karimnagar Teachers' seat, Malk Komurayya (BJP) and Yatakari Sayanna (BSP) are competing. There are 15 candidates, with BJP being the main contender along with 14 others, and BSP and independents also pose a challenge. In this seat, 28,088 teachers will cast their votes.

For the Nalgonda Teachers’ seat, the incumbent MLC Alugubelli Narsireddy is contesting against BJP candidate Puli Sarotham Reddy. A total of 19 candidates are competing, with the main contest among five contenders.
