IPL 2025: Will Sunrisers Hyderabad Leave the City? CM Revanth Reddy Issues Strong Warning on SRH vs HCA Dispute
Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Home Ground at Risk?
A major controversy has erupted between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) over the issue of free passes. Speculations are rising in cricket circles that SRH might move its home matches to another city due to pressure from HCA. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has now ordered a vigilance inquiry, indicating the seriousness of the issue.
What is the SRH vs HCA Dispute?
The dispute between HCA and SRH has been ongoing for the past two years, mainly over the demand for free tickets. SRH alleges that HCA officials have been pressuring them for additional complimentary passes and even resorted to threats. On March 27, a conflict reportedly occurred when HCA locked a corporate box in the stadium and refused to open it unless extra tickets were provided. This has angered SRH, which has now sent a warning email to HCA and is considering shifting its home matches to another city.
On the other hand, HCA denies all allegations, claiming that no official email was received from SRH and that these accusations are just social media rumors. However, leaked emails suggest that SRH has escalated the issue to BCCI and the Telangana government for intervention.
Will SRH Leave Hyderabad?
If SRH’s allegations are true and HCA continues to create problems, there is a real possibility that SRH may relocate its matches. This would be a big blow to Hyderabad’s image, not just as a cricketing hub but also as a leading sports city in India. Losing an IPL team would be a setback for the Telangana government and HCA’s reputation.
CM Revanth Reddy has warned HCA against troubling SRH and has ordered an investigation. If BCCI intervenes, strict action may be taken against HCA or an alternative venue like Visakhapatnam might be assigned for SRH’s matches.
The controversy has now become a serious concern for Hyderabad’s cricket fans, and all eyes are on how this issue will be resolved.
