Heatwave Hits Hard in Telugu States: Red and Orange Alerts Issued
The summer heat is becoming more dangerous in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Many districts have already recorded very high temperatures above 44°C. According to the Weather Department, the temperatures may rise even more in the next four days. In Telangana, a red alert has been issued for 11 districts, warning people to be careful. The summer heat that usually starts in May has already begun in April. The sun is shining very harshly, and even by 9 or 10 in the morning, it feels extremely hot outside.
Yesterday, several places recorded record-high temperatures: Adilabad (44.3°C), Nizamabad (44°C), Medak (42.8°C), Ramagundam (42.3°C), Mahabubnagar (41.2°C), Khammam (41°C), and Hanumakonda (40.5°C). A total of 33 districts in Telangana recorded temperatures above 40°C. The red alert districts include Adilabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Komaram Bheem, Mulugu, Nizamabad, Peddapalli, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, and Jayashankar Bhupalpally. In addition, an orange alert is given to 19 other districts.
In Andhra Pradesh, temperatures are also rising rapidly. Gonavaram in Nandyal district hit 44°C — the highest so far this season. Other places like Gollavidipalli (43.8°C), Maddur in YSR Kadapa (43.6°C), Thovva in Kurnool (42.9°C), Narmalapadu in Palnadu (42.8°C), and Udayagiri in Nellore (42.5°C) also reported high temperatures. Across the state, 135 places recorded over 41°C. People in both states are struggling with the intense heat and are advised to stay safe and hydrated.
