Eatala Takes Action Against Land Grabbing Incident in Pocharam Municipality

HYDERABAD: In a dramatic turn of events, BJP leader and Malkajgiri MP Eatala Rajender was caught on camera slapping a real estate businessman accused of grabbing land from poor residents at Ekashila Nagar, under the Pocharam municipality in Medchal district.

A video of the incident, which occurred on Tuesday, quickly went viral on social media. It shows Rajender confronting the businessman while his supporters also joined in, allegedly assaulting the individual. The clip further depicts land grabbers using earthmovers to harass local residents.

The confrontation came after repeated complaints from residents about “land sharks” who were reportedly using intimidation tactics to encroach on their property. Rajender, addressing the media later, defended his actions, blaming law enforcement agencies for failing to protect the rights of the original landowners.

“When police and revenue institutions failed to protect Dharma, as an elected representative, I intervened to punish the wrongdoers,” Rajender stated, adding that he acted in defense of justice when legal authorities failed to act.

A Long-Standing Dispute
The land dispute dates back to 1985 when a 149-acre area was divided into plots and sold to 2,076 buyers. Many of these buyers built homes, often with the help of bank loans. However, in 2006, a real estate businessman allegedly used illegal methods to revert the land to agricultural status and secure fraudulent ownership documents.

Despite several court rulings in favor of the original residents, the businessman reportedly continued to intimidate locals to seize portions of the land.

Rajender’s direct intervention has sparked a debate, drawing both praise and criticism, while highlighting ongoing issues of land grabbing and the failure of administrative systems to safeguard citizens’ property rights.
