Court Blocks Trump’s Orders on Transgender Military Appointments
US President Donald Trump faced a legal setback when a federal court blocked his orders banning transgender people from joining the US military and participating in women’s sports. The court ruled that Trump’s actions were not in line with the constitutional principle of equality for all individuals.
Trump's second term in office saw him issue orders to prohibit transgender individuals from participating in women’s sports competitions. He also revoked their appointments in the US military. Several groups challenged these decisions in court, arguing that the ban violated transgender rights.
During a hearing held recently, the court criticized Trump's orders. The court referred to the principle of equality, which is enshrined in the US Constitution, and rejected the transgender ban. Even though the President has the power to issue executive orders, the court made it clear that banning transgender rights was not acceptable. It also reminded everyone of the US Declaration of Independence, which affirms that all people are created equal.
The court ordered the suspension of Trump’s orders.
Additionally, another petition was heard regarding the closure of the Department of Government Efficiency (DoGE), led by Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk. The court ordered the immediate reopening of US Aid, which was also facing closure. It ruled that this would be unconstitutional.
