Coastal Andhra Pradesh Expected to Receive Above Normal Rainfall in August

VISAKHAPATNAM:The India Meteorological Department’s Amaravati Centre has forecasted above-normal rainfall for South Coastal Andhra Pradesh (SCAP) and Rayalaseema in August, while North Coastal Andhra Pradesh (NCAP) is expected to receive normal to below-normal rainfall.
In July, the state recorded normal rainfall with a total of 149 mm, which is 14% above the average of 131.1 mm. Despite this, four districts in Rayalaseema experienced rainfall deficits, with Anantapur facing a significant shortfall of 22.3 mm. Other affected areas include Annamayya with 52.8 mm, Kurnool with 55.1 mm, Sri Sathya Sai with 48 mm, and YSR Kadapa with 52.3 mm.
The IMD’s forecast for the next five days includes isolated thunderstorms and lightning over NCAP, Yanam, SCAP, and Rayalaseema, along with strong surface winds in these regions.
