Two coaches of Patalkot Express train catch fire in Agra, 2 injured
The train was heading to Seoni in Madhya Pradesh from Firozpur Cantonment in Punjab when the fire broke out in the third and fourth coaches from the engine around 3.45 pm, they said.
Two coaches of Patalkot Express caught fire near Agra, injuring two passengers. The train, traveling from Firozpur Cantonment to Seoni, experienced the fire in the third and fourth coaches. Authorities promptly halted the train, evacuated the affected coach, and detached it. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire, and there are no reported casualties.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Agra West Sonam Kumar confirmed that 13 people have been injured.
"Seven have sustained burn injuries although they are of less magnitude and treated at the emergency ward of SN Medical College and Hospital. Other six having simple injuries are admitted at a health facility near the spot where the train was stopped" said Kumar.
Two coaches of the train caught fire but all four were detached as it was feared to spread across all four coaches, said Prashasthi Srivastava, the PRO Agra Zone for North Central Railways at Agra.
Hence, four coaches were detached from the train as soon as the smoke was noticed around 3.45 pm.
The fire was noticed in the GS coach, which is the fourth coach from the engine.
