BCCI Changes Family Policy Following Virat Kohli's Concerns!

BCCI May Revise Family Rule After Virat Kohli’s Concern

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering changes to its "family rule," which was introduced after India's Test series loss in Australia. This rule limits the time players can stay with their families during overseas tours. However, BCCI may now allow players to request special permission for extended family stays.

Recently, BCCI introduced 10 guidelines regarding players' family time during international tours. As per these rules, for tours shorter than 45 days, families can stay for only one week. For longer tours exceeding 45 days, family members can join for up to 14 days but only after the first two weeks.

Virat Kohli expressed dissatisfaction with this policy, emphasizing that having loved ones nearby is essential, especially in high-pressure situations. He believes that family presence supports players' mental well-being. In response, a senior BCCI official stated that players can now apply for special permission, and the board will decide on a case-by-case basis. Cricket legend Kapil Dev also supported players spending time with family but emphasized the importance of balancing personal and team priorities.

During the recent Champions Trophy, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, and Mohammed Shami stayed with their families in Dubai. However, they did not share accommodations with the team, and the players covered their own expenses.
