Andhra Pradesh Kadapa District Reservoirs Seeing Increased Inflows

KADAPA: Reservoirs in Kadapa district are experiencing a notable increase in water levels, thanks to releases from the Srisailam project. This influx has significantly filled the Gandikota and Mylavaram reservoirs to near capacity.
The district’s 11 reservoirs, with a combined storage capacity of 71.275 TMC, currently hold 38.448 TMC of water. The release from Srisailam through the Pothireddypadu Head Regulator is benefiting the Galeru-Nagari and Telugu Ganga irrigation projects. The Gandikota reservoir alone has accumulated 18.329 TMC, with an inflow rate of 11,295 cusecs.
Additionally, the Mylavaram and Pydipalem balancing reservoirs have seen substantial inflows, enhancing various projects linked to the Gandikota lift irrigation scheme. The Chitravathi Balancing Reservoir (CBR) and other major reservoirs, including Suryanarayana Sagar, Vamikonda, NTR Subsidiary-1 and 2, and Brahmam Sagar, are also receiving significant water inflows, according to officials.
