Andhra Pradesh Health Commissioner Calls for Upgrading FRS Maintenance

VIJAYAWADA: During a review meeting on Thursday at the Health Department headquarters in Mangalagiri, Commissioner of Health and Family Welfare C Hari Kiran expressed frustration with the current state of the Facial Recognition System (FRS) used in Andhra Pradesh. He directed officials to enhance the technology of the system and mandated that cadre-wise attendance details be submitted to him daily by 10:00 am.
Hari Kiran emphasized the need for the app to be updated so that it accurately displays all employee information based on their unique identification numbers and separately records the attendance of National Health Mission employees. He voiced concerns about discrepancies, such as attendance being recorded at different Urban Primary Health Centres (UPHCs) from where employees were actually stationed. Additionally, he noted that the app had shown early exits by medical officers post-attendance registration and instructed that the system be modified to record and display reasons for these early exits.
Addressing the leave recording process, Hari Kiran requested clarity on how absences should be logged when employees did not work. He expressed frustration over a discrepancy where the app indicated 13 staff members were present at a UPHC in Kakinada, while only seven were actually there. To address this, he called the medical officer in charge for an explanation regarding the unregistered attendance of 12 staff members.
