VIJAYAWADA: Agriculture Minister K. Atchannaidu has announced that the state government will recover funds illegally diverted from cooperative societies by the previous YSRC regime.
In a review meeting with APCOB officials at his camp office in Tekkali, Srikakulam district, on Wednesday, the minister revealed that some officials had obtained loans using fictitious names. He emphasized the need to overhaul the system and integrate all cooperative societies online.
“At present, the system should allow farmers to receive loans within a day,” he said, instructing officials to implement measures to facilitate this. He also advised linking Aadhaar cards with Mee Bhoomi, EC, and E-Crop to streamline the loan process.
An action plan will be introduced to disburse Rs 38.7 crore to farmers through cooperative societies via APCOB-DCCBs. The minister stressed the importance of ensuring farmers face no difficulties in accessing loans.
In addition to crop loans, Atchannaidu urged officials and bankers to focus on providing long-term loans to farmers and to educate them about the Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE).
