80 Year Old Mandapam Demolished in Telanganas Bhadrachalam

KHAMMAM: The Kalyan Mandapam of Sri Kusuma Harnath Baba Temple in Bhadrachalam was demolished on Thursday morning as a precautionary measure.
Following heavy rains on Wednesday, the eight-decade-old mandapam reportedly sank into floodwaters. Constructed in 1938 by devotee Ramadas, the mandapam was traditionally used for Baba Kalyanam ceremonies and was situated on a hill near the Bhadrachalam Ramalayam temple.
Authorities have identified additional factors contributing to the mandapam’s collapse, including road widening and excavation activities carried out by both private entities and temple officials.
To prevent potential hazards and significant damage, District Collector Jitesh V. Patil and temple officials decided to demolish the structure. Prior to the demolition, officials ensured that nearby shops and houses under the hill were evacuated.
