Union Minister Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani pledges to resolve flooding issue

GUNTUR: Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications, Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, reassured residents that necessary steps will be taken to prevent the inundation of low-lying areas during the rainy season.
During his visit to KVP Colony, AT Agraharam, Chuttugunta, Joseph Nagar, and Nallapadu in Guntur city on Friday, accompanied by local public representatives and GMC leaders, the Union Minister addressed concerns raised by residents about flooding caused by recent heavy rains. The downpours had severely impacted the area, and he inspected the condition of overflowing rivulets and ongoing desilting work at major drains. Residents living near the Chandrababu Diganta rivulet, which frequently floods their homes, prompted the Minister to promise a permanent solution.
Dr. Pemmasani also expressed displeasure over littered roads and vacant plots, instructing officials to launch special sanitation drives. He warned that disciplinary action would be taken against officials neglecting their duties.
Furthermore, the Minister highlighted that Union Minister Nitin Gadkari had responded positively to the long-delayed Sankar Vilas flyover extension, with construction expected to begin soon.
Guntur West MLA Galla Madhavi and GMC officials were present at the meeting.
