Three relatives of former YSRCP MP Nandigam Suresh have been charged in connection with an illegal sand mining case

Police have stated that this is the inaugural case to be filed under the new criminal laws implemented in Andhra Pradesh starting July 1.
On July 1, Guntur Police filed the first case under the newly implemented criminal laws against three individuals, including the nephew of former YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MP Nandigam Suresh. They are accused of engaging in illegal sand mining and transportation. The new laws came into effect in Andhra Pradesh on the same day.
Thullur DSP E. Ashok Kumar Goud stated that cases have been filed against Rachakonda Chennaiah, a tipper driver, Bhanu, a car driver, and Dondapati Sudheer, the nephew of former MP Nandigam Suresh. Chennaiah was allegedly caught transporting sand illegally, while Bhanu was driving the vehicle loaded with sand, reportedly under Sudheer's direction, according to police sources.
DSP Ashok Kumar Goud mentioned that the police intercepted the tipper carrying sand at Malkapuram near Mandadam village in Amaravati. Both the tipper and the accompanying car have been confiscated. The DSP added that criminal cases have been registered at Thullur police station under Section 303(2) BNS read with 3 BNS, and sections 21(1) and 21(4) of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act. He further stated that the investigation is ongoing.
Acting on a tip-off about alleged illegal sand mining, special teams were deployed for vigilant monitoring, as detailed by the DSP.
