Popular anchor Suma has recently found herself at the center of a controversy. A few years back, she was the brand ambassador for Raki Avenues, a real estate company now accused of fraud. Suma appeared in several ads where Raki Avenues promised 3BHK homes for Rs 26 lakhs in cities like Vijayawada and Rajahmundry.
Many middle-class individuals, influenced by the advertisements featuring Suma, invested significant amounts of their savings. Unfortunately, Raki Avenues failed to deliver any properties, and its founder, Ramayya, is currently on the run after defrauding customers of Rs 10 crore. In response, affected investors have sent legal notices to both Suma and Raki Avenues and have appealed to the government for assistance.
In light of the situation, Suma has issued a statement on Instagram. She clarified that her involvement with Raki Avenues was limited to providing professional services from 2016 to 2018. “I want to clarify that these advertisements are now unauthorized, and I no longer represent Raki Avenues. I am actively addressing this issue and pursuing legal action against all involved parties,” Suma wrote.
She concluded her post by advising people to verify any advertisements or promotions through official channels to avoid misinformation and expressed her gratitude for the support and understanding of her followers.
