TDP Suspends MLA Following Sexual Harassment Allegations

TIRUPATI: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has suspended Satyavedu MLA Koneti Adimulam following serious allegations of sexual harassment made by a female party member.
The accuser, a TDP worker, reported the harassment directly to TDP national president and Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, prompting swift action from party leadership.
Koneti Adimulam, aged 66, who recently won his seat in the Satyavedu Assembly constituency on a TDP ticket, is now at the center of a scandal that has rocked the local political scene.
State TDP President Palla Srinivasa Rao confirmed the suspension in a statement released shortly after the allegations surfaced. Rao also stated that the video evidence related to the case will be sent to a forensic lab for a detailed analysis, with further action to be determined based on the report.
The victim described her experience to the media, detailing how what began as professional interactions with Adimulam escalated into repeated harassment. She reported that the MLA would call her incessantly—sometimes up to 100 times in a single night—and accused him of coercing her into sexual acts at a Tirupati hotel.
Initially silent out of fear for her safety, the victim chose to come forward as the situation became unbearable. She expressed concern for other women in the constituency and hoped her decision to speak out would prevent similar experiences for them. Adimulam, who had previously won the 2019 elections as a YSRC candidate, had joined the TDP after being denied a ticket by the YSRC.
