Telangana budget of Rs 2.5 lakh crore will emphasize the implementation of initiatives under the 6Gs

Hyderabad: Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka is set to present Telangana's first full Budget under the Congress government since the state's formation on Thursday.
Sources indicate that the budget for the fiscal year 2024–25 is expected to range between Rs 2.5 lakh crore to Rs 2.9 lakh crore. The current vote-on-account budget, presented shortly after the Congress assumed power in December and due to expire by July 31, will cover the eriod from August 2024 to March 2025.
The government's focus is anticipated to center on fulfilling the six guarantees and election promises made by the Congress, with balanced allocations expected for welfare programs and developmental initiatives.
Agriculture and irrigation sectors have been highlighted as top priorities, with the agriculture sector slated to receive significant funding. This includes Rs 31,000 crore earmarked for implementing a crop loan waiver scheme and an estimated Rs 15,000 crore for the Rythu Bharosa scheme. Efforts are also underway to expedite major irrigation projects like the Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme, with proposals submitted seeking Rs 19,000 crore for this purpose.
Furthermore, ongoing schemes such as subsidized LPG cylinders, free bus travel for women, and housing schemes like Gruha Jyothi and Indiramma are expected to receive adequate funding.
As preparations continue, officials are finalizing budget documents following an assessment of the Union Budget. Estimates are being made regarding Telangana's share of funds from Central Sector Schemes.
