Rabbit is smart

నక్క కడుపుతో ఆహారం కోసం బయటకు వెళ్లింది. 'ఇప్పుడు నేను కడుపు నిండా తింటున్నాను కానీ నా ఇంటికి తగినంత శక్తి రాదు' అనుకుంటూ వేగంగా నడుస్తోంది. ఇంతలో లేత గడ్డి తింటున్న కుందేలు చూసింది. 'హమయ్యా... ముందు ఇది తింటే.. కనీసం ఆకలి అయినా తీరుతుంది' అనుకుంటూ కుందేలు దగ్గరికి వెళ్లింది నక్క. హఠాత్తుగా వచ్చిన నక్కను చూసి కుందేలు గుండె ఆగిపోయింది.

  తప్పించుకోలేదు. అయితే వెంటనే... 'నక్కా బావా... బాగున్నావా...?' ఆమె ముందుకు వెళ్ళింది. 'ఆగు... నీ కబుర్లు! ఇప్పుడు నేను నిన్ను తినబోతున్నాను' అంది నక్క. 'నిన్నుండి పారిపోవడం సాధ్యమేనా నక్కబావా! కానీ నువ్వు నన్ను తింటే నీకు ఆకలి ఉండదు, అతిథిని సగం ఆకలితో పంపడం మాది కాదు' అని కుందేలు చెప్పింది.

  'అయితే ఇప్పుడేంటి?' అని నక్క చెప్పింది. మా ఇంటి పక్కనే మా ఇల్లు. నేను లేకుంటే ఒంటరితనం ఉండేది కాదు. అలా వస్తే...నన్ను తినకు అది కూడా. అప్పుడు మీ ఆకలి పూర్తిగా తీరుతుంది. ఒకరికొకరు లేరనే బాధ పోతుంది' అంది. ‘నీ మాటలు నిజమేనా?’ అంది నక్క.   కొంత దూరంలో ఒక పులి గుహలోంచి బయటకు రావడం కనిపించింది. వెంటనే కుందేలు 'పులిరాజా... ఈ మూడో నక్కను కూడా తింటే... మీకు సోకిన వాయువ్యాధి పూర్తిగా తగ్గిపోతుంది. త్వరగా రా' అంది. ఆ మాటలకు నక్కకు కోపం వచ్చింది. గతంలో ఇలాంటి కుందేలు వల్ల సింహం బావిలో పడి చనిపోయింది. ఆ విషయం తెలిసి కూడా... ఆకలి బాధ వల్ల ఇది నమ్మితే ఇప్పుడు నాకు పులికి తిండి పెట్టినట్లే' అంటూ వెనక్కి పరుగు తీసింది. అప్పుడు కుందేలు తనంతట తానుగా వెళ్ళింది.
