Sanju Samson Rejoins Rajasthan Royals Squad After Surgery

Sanju Samson Joins Rajasthan Royals Squad After Finger Surgery

Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Sanju Samson has rejoined the squad ahead of the IPL 2025 season after recovering from a finger surgery. He suffered the injury during India’s T20I series against England in February, which forced him to miss the remaining matches. He underwent surgery and has been working on his fitness at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.

While Samson’s return is a major boost for Rajasthan Royals, it is still unclear if he will take up wicketkeeping duties immediately. The team management will assess his fitness before making a decision. If he is not ready, Dhruv Jurel could take on the wicketkeeping role for the initial matches. Jurel has performed well in recent games and had replaced Samson in the fifth T20I against England after his injury.

In other good news for RR, all-rounder Riyan Parag has fully recovered from a shoulder injury and is available for selection. Rajasthan Royals will begin their IPL 2025 campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on March 23 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. They will then play back-to-back home games in Guwahati against Kolkata Knight Riders (March 26) and Chennai Super Kings (March 30) at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium.
